Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup stout beer such as Guinness
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- For the ganache:
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/4 cup stout beer
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C
Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt
In another bowl, whisk together the stout beer, melted butter, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract until well combined
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth
Stir in the chocolate chips
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes
Then, remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack
